To die proudly when it is no longer possible to live proudly. Death of one's own free choice, death at the proper time, with a clear head and with joyfulness, consummated in the midst of children and witnesses: so that an actual leave-taking is possible while he who is leaving is still there.
~Friedrich Nietzsche, Expeditions of an Untimely Man
Is death the gate to where the free lives? Free from all living creatures? Free from oneself? But what does 'death at the proper time' stands for? When is the proper time to die? Can one define her own death in a proper manner, with zero thoughts? Is death really the opposite of life? Can one be fashionably free by defining her own death?
From what I know freedom is a condition of the heart, and so does heaven. Who's to say that death will guide us to our freedom? And yet, who's to say that it will not? No one has ever been there and came back to tell the story, yet so many believe that death is the key to absolute freedom.
(will keep you posted on this rather fascinating subject, as I am deeply interested and intended to dig in for more)

Hai Mbak!
Can't comment much on heaven ;p
but i partially agree that freedom is a condition of the heart, i believe it's also a state of mind. The thing is, the heart and the mind are engaged in a constant battle, and in my case, the heart seldomly prevail..
so..i'm in a partial freedom ;) waiting for someone/something to liberate my heart
